O CORAZÓN NA BOCA
In co-production with the Galician Drama Center for its 40th anniversary
SYNOPSIS
What does it mean to dream? What does it imply?
What does it mean to dream at 16? And at 83?
What are the dreams of those children we once were?
Which trains did we not take? Which ones are yet to be taken?
A cast of 20 people between the ages of 18 and 80 will be moved and, with the courage of someone who dreams out loud, will invite us on a journey through dreams.
The impossible, those that come true, those we have already forgotten, those we let pass but have nailed down, those that with this work will become reality... All of this from the Galician theater community, its language, and its history.
Why?
Because it's our anniversary in Galician theater, and as we blow out the candles, there will be a wish to be granted today on our stages.
Let the party begin!

PROJECT INFORMATION
The theater is full of dreams: impossible dreams and dreams that seemed impossible but came true, pending dreams that will never be fulfilled, dreams we've given up on, dreams of the past and the present. In "O corazón na boca," the protagonists' dreams will be presented to us on stage in the form of characters, telling us about the journey of dreams through the different stages of life. Because we, like the theater, are also full of dreams.
A NAUTA investigation with the FEGATEA community that, over a year-long process, presents a collectively created intergenerational show to celebrate Galician theater, the language, and these 40 years of history.

INVESTIGACIÓN:
IDENTIDADE DE XÉNERO
RESEARCH: GENDER IDENTITY
The theatrical research on gender identity was a project promoted by EFFEA (European Festival Fund for Emerging Artists) and in collaboration with the Galicreques Festival. It consisted of six free theatrical research sessions, a materials collection session, and two public screenings: one at the Constante Liste de Teo theater and one at A Gentalha do Pichel in Santiago de Compostela. All of this was directed by the Nauta theater company and drag artist and actor Nico Elsker.
The research, which took place between December 18 and 23, 2023, focused on gender identity from theatrical expression, specifically the theatrical mask from different perspectives: starting from the neutral mask, the expressive mask, the half mask to the body mask such as the jester or drag.
We chose the mask as the core element for our research for several reasons. First, because the mask is a transformative element; it transforms the body and must be placed at the service of the body and its dynamics. In this metamorphosis, we see an ideal place to investigate bodies and, specifically, the construct of gender. The mask is the perfect representation of social archetypes and stereotypes, and so with it, we can question them, deconstruct them, and investigate what lies beneath. Part of the work also involved investigating everyday elements that have an associated gender and that also act as masks, such as high heels or a mustache.
